[community profile] questionoftheday asks: What is your relationship with technology? Do you keep up with the latest and greatest, or have you stuck with the older stuff you bought years ago as long as it still works?

Love technology, hate the capitalism that produces it! I love love love cool computers and if I earned more would probably upgrade way often - I also want another tablet, I've got a big one but I want a small one. I love my new phone.

I don't trust the very newest things - I want software and the like that's been out for at least a few months, I won't immediately upgrade, I want to give it time to get stable and the like, but I don't like being massively behind the times although if it ain't broke I won't fix it. (See my Office 2010 installation...) Also a lot of new stuff is so very... corporate, it's ad supported or you have to use the (proprietory) cloud or it needs constant wifi or whatever, and it's like, fuck off. So if I have to stick with older shit to avoid corporate bollocks I will till it starts breaking.

The smart home stuff freaks me the hell out, although I'll tell you what I do want - the Cozmo robot. It's so cute! It's only what, £250? On my old salary I could have just bought it and I might have at that.

I'm very into cyberpunk at the moment, although it's my particular flavour of cyberpunk that's basically just brutal satire of the world as it is. I do keep up with the tech news, more or less.

Today's been a busy day on my art blog.

First off, today's big deal art, a painting of Breq floating in space from Imperial Radch - spoilers for Ancillary Mercy! I'm quite chuffed with it. I did it yesterday but held off posting bc I was trying to stay off tumblr.

I had my scheduled reblog of old art, showing ZGRXF, Esaci's best friend from the big game. I really wanted to draw a dragonborn and get really into it, so I asked my friend if I could draw his character. Z's something of an arrogant git quite often, but they're Esaci's arrogant git - and Esaci is a reckless, wrathful, stubborn git when ze wants to be zirself.

And then this evening I've been playing around with CSP's Colorize function - I don't like it most of the time - but it did produce this beautiful portrait of Sir Bors. He's the only male character I've ever played and like, he was a giant psychic metal man, he was only a man because the 70s British government thought Arthurian knights should be. End of the Line was a fucking wild ride and I can't do it justice in a few words, but Sir Bors was a really great character and I'm glad I had him.
